Next Level Assessment: Improving the Assessment Cycle (Week 3/6)
Course Description:
After learning assessment history, theory, basic practices, and how to develop a degree or unit-level assessment plan it is time to take assessment to the next level and get others involved with implementing assessment practices. This course will enhance current assessment practitioners’ ability to design programmatic assessment across the institution, while engaging stakeholders in the process. Specifically, students will learn strategies and tools for conducting programmatic assessment of academic and administrative units across the institution and how to engage faculty, staff, and students in the process. Topics include telling an assessment story, appropriately using multiple assessment measures, and mapping the curriculum.
Participant Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Articulate the best practices in program assessment across multiple units on campus
- Create an assessment process that engages faculty and students
- Use assessment results to create pathways for continuous improvements
- Identify areas that are working well and create an action plan for those that are not
